Ceremonies

I am an accredited celebrant with the Humanist Association of Ireland, and am qualified to conduct legal weddings in Ireland. I have been officiating since 2018, and in this time I have conducted weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, memorials, and vow renewals.

As a lecturer in Irish Folklore and Archaeology, I understand the importance in marking major milestones and rites of passage in human life, through meaningful ceremony and celebration. I often draw on traditions and customs when devising ceremonies, and I am available to conduct ceremonies in Irish and English.

Celebrancy is one of the most rewarding things I do. To be with people at these major turning points in their lives, whether in joyous celebration or in memorial, is a privilege I value greatly. I feel compelled to help people devise ceremonies which are meaningful and inclusive, and to acknowledge the importance of ritual in marking human life.

Testimonials

“Billy’s words and demeanour made all the family and friends present feel uplifted, and that we had shared in something both intimate and momentous.”

Billy Mag Fhloinn was the perfect celebrant for our family’s Memorial Ceremony.  He brought the exact measure of dignity, without being sombre, which was just what we had in mind.  So grateful to him for facilitating the ceremony which befitted our departed relative.  Míle buíochas.

“The bride and groom said that their day was all the more special because of Billy’s sincerity and likeability.”
